Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bristol?
Bristol is a lightweight, fast, and easy-to-use application for creating 3D mockups of exhibitions and art fair booths. With quick artwork import and intuitive object manipulation in 3D space, Bristol lets you iterate on your layout faster than ever.
What platforms does Bristol run on?
Bristol runs on macOS and Windows.
Does Bristol require a powerful computer?
No. Bristol is designed to run smoothly on standard hardware, including laptops a few years old.
Where is my data stored?

Your data is saved locally as .bristol files.

The paid plan will require an internet connection for license activation and periodic license checks.

Can I share .bristol files with colleagues?
Yes. Anyone with Bristol installed on their computer can open a .bristol file.
Is Bristol free?

Bristol is free to use during the beta period. Once officially launched, two plans will be available:

  • Free — All features, up to 5 artworks per document.
  • Pro — No limitations. Billed monthly, per user, one device per license.
How much will it cost after the beta?
Pricing has not been set yet and will be finalized during the beta period.
Can I import my artwork inventory into a Bristol document?
Yes. You can import artworks one by one as images, or in bulk using a CSV file from your gallery management system.
Can I import my gallery floor plan?

Not yet. For now, only booth construction is available using the built-in wall tools.

Custom space import is planned by the end of March 2026. You will be able to import 3D models of your space as .glb or .fbx files, two widely supported 3D formats. Need help creating your 3D model? Contact me.

Why can't I import a SketchUp model?

SketchUp uses a system that differs from standard 3D mesh formats. Exported files from SketchUp often produce incomplete or broken geometry in other applications, including Bristol.

If you have an existing SketchUp model, don't worry — gallery floor plans are typically simple shapes that can be easily recreated in another 3D modeling tool.
